Golf Swing Positions.
When you have a golf club in your hands and a golf ball at your feet, don't you just want to smash that ball
into the distance? unless you are putting, of course. The problem is that being able to hit a ball hard is not
everything, is it? The golf swing, the technique, is more important than the power.
Golf Swing Positions.
Your golf swing is more important than the power than the power that you can put into your shot
and that depends largely on your positioning. Golf swing positions are hugely important.
If you are not positioned correctly, you cannot swing correctly either and if your golf swing is
not right, then you will lose some of the power and accuracy that you are trying to put into your shot.
Being able to hit the ball hard may prove how strong you are, to those that care, but being able
to put the ball where you want it to be is what impresses golfers. Golf swing is all-important in this regard and
so are golf swing positions.
There are various golf swing positions that you can adopt and no-one can tell you which is the
best really. There the best golf swing positions for me and for them and the best golf swing positions for
you.
There are the best golf swing positions for playing off the tee and the best golf swing
positions for playing out of a sand bunker. You job is to try many golf swing positions and to remember and adopt
the ones that work for you.
The best golf swing positions will feel comfortable. You should feel relaxed at all times. A
position should not feel 'forced'. OK, you may have to train yourself to adopt a different stance, but after a
while, it should feel better than what you were doing.
If it still feels unnatural after a few days, look for another golf swing position or stance.
You have watched the pro golfers, they make it look easy because it is easy (natural and comfortable) to
them.
You need to feel stable, like a rock. Keep your centre of gravity near your stomach, spread your
feet, but not uncomfortably so, your stroke should be as smooth as a pendulum swings. Whack! Contact. Follow
through.
The ball is not the stopping point of your stroke. The ball got in the way of your stroke and
was incidental. A powerful boxer does not punch at the chin, he punches at the back of the head behind the
chin.
The chin just gets in the way first.
Once you can hit the air directly behind the ball every time and it feels natural, you will have
found the best of golf swing positions for you personally and then you can gradually start to add power to your
shot.
Golf is a game of grace and power, but the grace has to come first not second. Remember what
Mohamad Ali said: '...float like a butterfly and sting like a bee'.
He did not say: '..sting like a bee but float like a butterfly'.
Grace comes before power and is far more impressive.
