How to Choose Golf Shoes
by Rhys Jones
Your swing could well change, your accuracy and distance will definitely improve with practice, and
you may become deadly accurate at putting, but one thing is for certain, you will always do all these
things while you are standing on your feet in your golf shoes.
So, your feet need to be comfortable! Have you ever got a blister while shopping, walking or running? It is all
you can think about , is it not? And it ruins the experience of what you are doing because the pain plays on
your mind all the time. Do not let uncomfortable golf shoes ruin your game of golf as well.
This is one area where you should not let your inherent desire to save money make the decision for you. You
will be wearing these golf shoes many times over a long period of time and they should be considered a
good investment in your game of golf. Comfort, not cost, should be your biggest concern when you are buying
golf shoes.
If your golf (or any other for that matter) shoes fit well, your foot should not move in the shoe at all
at the heel when you walk, yet your toes should not feel cramped either. Always have your golf shoes fitted
professionally and walk around in them a little while before you actually buy them to see if they are
comfortable.
Proper golf shoes should be waterproof so that your feet remain dry in damp conditions like when walking on
damp grass after a shower. Good socks are important too; they will take perspiration away from you feet,
keeping your feet dry and comfortable. Cotton socks are alright, but wool is best.
If you buy woolen socks, wear them when you go to buy your golf shoes because woolen socks are
usually thicker than cotton socks and you may need a size larger shoe.
All golf courses prohibit metal spiked golf shoes in an effort to protect their delicate greens,
so purchase shoes that allow you to change the rubber spikes easily, and while you're in the shop,
purchase some extra spikes. You never know when you may lose one. You should also replace the spikes when they
become worn.
It is always better to have an even set of spikes. You may find that one side will wear down more quickly than
the others, because of the way you walk. Most people favour one side when they walk.
Wearing a good pair of golf shoes made by a reputable manufacturer can make a difference in your game, by not
allowing your feet to to spoil your concentration.
You have many things to consider while playing golf, but your feet should not be one of them. When it
comes to golf shoes, quality counts and pays dividends as well.
